WSTEM Open Enrollment – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Who can apply to WSTEM?
WSTEM is a tuition-free public charter school open to all students. Families may apply for students entering Junior Kindergarten (4K) through 6th grade.

Are there age requirements for kindergarten?
Yes. Junior Kindergarten students must be 4 years old by September 1, 2026. Senior Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by September 1, 2026.

When is open enrollment?
Open enrollment runs from January 26, 2026 through February 28, 2026.

How do I apply?
Families must complete the online Open Enrollment Application. A separate form is required for each student.


Does submitting an application guarantee admission?
No. If applications exceed available seats, students will be selected through a random lottery process.

When will the lottery take place?
If needed, the lottery will be held March 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Families will be notified of results within 7 days by email.

What information is required on the application?
The application asks for student information, sibling details, grade level, address, and parent/guardian contact information. No academic, discipline, or medical records are requested.

Can I apply for more than one child?
Yes. Families must complete one application per student. The form allows you to list siblings who are also applying.

Do siblings receive priority?
Yes. Siblings of currently enrolled students and siblings applying together are considered according to WSTEM’s Enrollment and Lottery Policy.

How will families be contacted?
All official communication, including lottery results, will be sent to the email address provided on the application.

Does WSTEM discriminate in admissions?
No. WSTEM does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, gender identity, disability, religion, or any other protected status.
